36. We Thought We Were Underqualified… Then We Ran a Founder Photoshoot Anyway

Mar 11, 2026

Most people think a professional photoshoot is about getting better pictures for their website or LinkedIn profile.

But when Dr. Matthea Rentea and I decided to offer a professional photoshoot as part of the recent Female Founders Accelerator program retreat, we observed something much deeper happen when someone steps in front of the camera.

The real transformation isn’t the photos.

It’s the shift in self-image.

In this episode of the podcast, we share the behind-the-scenes story of how we decided to create a founder photoshoot experience designed to help entrepreneurs transform their self-image and upgrade their CEO energy. What started as a simple idea turned into something much more powerful — an environment where founders could see themselves differently.

Because when you’re building a business, your brand and image eventually becomes an extension of who you are. And many founders struggle with the gap between the leader they are becoming and the way they currently see themselves.

A photoshoot has a way of surfacing that tension.

There’s the excitement of showing up professionally, but also the internal voice that says you’re not ready yet. You’re not polished enough. You don’t look the part.

And yet, when founders push through that discomfort and step fully into the experience, something shifts.

With the support of a photographer, stylist, and a room full of other founders going through the same process, people begin to see themselves differently. This is the power of a supportive community.

The photos become a reflection not just of how they look, but of the leader they are growing into.

In the episode, we talk about:

  • Why most founder photos don’t actually represent who someone is becoming
  • The difference between quick headshots and a true brand photoshoot experience
  • How stylists and photographers help founders see themselves in a new way
  • Why the biggest impact of a photoshoot is internal, not external

For many founders, this kind of experience becomes a turning point — a moment where their internal identity finally catches up with the level of business they’re building.

Because sometimes the biggest upgrade isn’t your photos.

It’s your self-concept.
